Interactive Installation

This project required us to create an interactive installation for an exhibition about the topic of “Sustainability and Energy”. At the beginning, there were many aspects to consider but by trial and error we were able to come up with our final concept. We created a 8-bit style game using a direct metaphor to save energy.
The game is based in a school who is trying to save money, but students seem to leave the lights on each time. The objective of the player is to turn off as many lights as possible in 20 seconds without leaving a tremendous electricity bill.
School ground layout
To navigate around the game, the player uses the magnetic character to go to different rooms by simply placing it over the control board containing the school plan. i.e. Once the character is placed in the cafeteria of the plan, the digital version of the character appears on screen in the cafeteria. Furthermore, a light switch is on the control system to mimic a real life situation of turning the lights on/off.
Pixel character - Henry
Purposely made to be androgynous so the player does not have to select whether they would want to be a male or female character in the game.
